Chef Alfredo's - 76 W Tabernacle St - St George, UT

I had several people recommend this restaurant to me, and my wife and I tried it out on our 8th Anniversary - we had a wonderful experience!

Good

1, the location is just really fun. It is inside of a house that looks like it is Pioneer-era. It is in the historic district of St George, behind Judd's General Store and across the street from the historic St George Tabernacle. You would think that turning a house into a restaurant would mean that you're crammed together in a room with other guests, but they've done a really nice job with it! We had a very quiet, intimate experience and didn't feel that way at all

2, the service was top notch. Martha was wonderful. She is usually the manager, but they were short staffed (thanks, COVID pandemic) and jumped right in and was so happy to be our server. She gave us excellent recommendations and told us about Chef Alfredo and how many of these recipes are his family recipes from Italy.

3, the food was quite delicious. I had the Chicken Parmesan and my wife had the Chicken Alfredo. Both were excellent! The bread is very delicious as well. The portion sizes were definitely adequate - I think we both ended up bringing home part of our meal to eat later.

This was a very fun place to have our Anniversary dinner, and a great overall experience

Bad

I have this problem with Italian... I love Italian food, but I've also been a college student, and I know how cheap noodles are! Now I'm not saying that Chef Alfredo's goes and buys Great Value Linguine and cooks it up in the kitchen. But... I also took a cooking class at BYU and I know how cheap the ingredients are to make noodles. And the frugal part of me just can't get over that when I go eat Italian.

So, was this place a little pricey?

Yes, it was.

But did we have a wonderful time and was the food delicious and the servings generous and was it a great place to go for our anniversary?

Yes.

If you're looking for "cheap", try somewhere else.

But if you're looking for romantic and classic and delicious and fun and memorable... I think you'll have a great time.

So, for my ratings:
