Purple Mattress - King - Purple 1 (Original)

Image
My wife and I bought a new mattress earlier this year. We've had it for 11 months now, so we've had a good length of time to try it out. First of all, let me clarify which mattress I'm talking about. Purple has several now. This is their original Purple mattress. Some people call it the Purple 1 because it has 1 inch of Gelflex Grid , while the Purple Hybrid (Purple 2) has 2 inches and Purple 3 has 3 inches and Purple 4 has...  Yes, 4 inches. You know when you've seen a word so many times it starts to look weird... Purple Purple looks weird. Ok, so this is the mattress I'm reviewing. First, I did not pay $1699 for it. My wife saw on Facebook someone in our town who picks up the mattresses that people don't want after their 90 or 100 or 180 or 360 day trial, and then resells them. So they are lightly used and she was really good about cleaning them, etc. And we got it for half that price. So I would look on your classifieds or Facebook Marketplace and see if so...

Brody's Mexican Restaurant - 1166 S Sage Drive suite C - Cedar City, UT

Image
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/uoSGN2rjr6NBHkrk9 My wife and I both speak Spanish and love Hispanic culture.  We both lived in El Salvador as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 18 months and 2 years, respectively.  And we love Mexican food (although not super spicy food... SalvadoreƱo food is quite "bland" compared to Mexican).  My aunt, who is a long-time Cedar City-an, recommended this place to us as strongly as she could. In fact, she told us, "my kids know that at my funeral there's going to be Brody's with green sauce."  After going to eat there, I let her know that we will not miss her funeral :) Anyway, if you're like me, you try to find authentic Mexican - not Taco Bell or Del Taco. And Brody's may not sound like an authentic Mexican name.  But it is an authentic Mexican restaurant. It is named after the owner's son, Brody.   Good 1, fajitas. Oh, so good. Although I always wish they brought you more tortil...

Chef Alfredo's - 76 W Tabernacle St - St George, UT

I had several people recommend this restaurant to me, and my wife and I tried it out on our 8th Anniversary - we had a wonderful experience!  Location: https://g.page/chefalfredostgeorge?share Good 1, the location is just really fun. It is inside of a house that looks like it is Pioneer-era. It is in the historic district of St George, behind Judd's General Store and across the street from the historic St George Tabernacle. You would think that turning a house into a restaurant would mean that you're crammed together in a room with other guests, but they've done a really nice job with it! We had a very quiet, intimate experience and didn't feel that way at all 2, the service was top notch. Martha was wonderful. She is usually the manager, but they were short staffed (thanks, COVID pandemic) and jumped right in and was so happy to be our server. She gave us excellent recommendations and told us about Chef Alfredo and how many of these recipes are his family recipes from ...

Red Fort Cuisine of India - 148 S 1470 E - St George, UT

Red Fort is a really authentic Indian Restaurant with really authentically delicious Indian food. Location: https://g.page/red-fort-cuisine-of-india?share The atmosphere is really fun, with the decor and tables and dress of the servers and staff and overhead ceiling fans all adding to the experience. I have never been here and not had a server who is actually Indian, which is also really cool. Good 1, as mentioned above, the decor and atmosphere are just really cool. I believe this building used to be a church (someone correct me if I'm wrong), and it has some cool tall windows that are used really artfully in the restaurant. The tables, the benches, the overhead ceiling fans - even the napkins and cups and serving dishes - add to the feel of the restaurant.  2, the staff are very professional and nice and do a great job - even with a high volume of customers as this place is very popular (and rightly so) 3, my favorite dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala. It is so, so deli...

Cafe Sabor - 290 E E St George Blvd - St George, UT

This one is a personal favorite. Lots of meals eaten over at Cafe Sabor. My go-to are the Tierra y Mar Tacos. Location: https://goo.gl/maps/e68SsUFhKF7brMXw6 Ok, the good and the bad Good The tacos! Man, they are delicious. The chips and salsa are also great. They always bring out one mild and one spicy. The spicy one isn't super spicy, but it also not as tasty. The tacos are a little bit expensive, though... As of this post in January 2022, about $5 per taco, depending on which taco you get. Compared to Angelicas just down the road, they are more expensive but also a bit more pricey. The rice and beans on the side are quite good. And on Tuesdays, ask for the Taco Tuesday deal and get 2 plates of 3 tacos, rice and beans, and a drink for $20 (again, as of this post in January 2022). The other thing on the menu that I can whole-heartedly recommend are the taquitos! They are an appetizer, and boy are they good! As for drinks, the raspberry lemonade is my favorite. Pina colada le...
